A rumoured rift between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)’s biggest concern post World Cup exit has been the rumoured rift between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. They are also keen to discuss the idea of split captaincy.
Poor batting selections and improper execution of the No.4 plan have recently been the primary talking topics of India’s campaign in World Cup 2019. Team India were strong contenders of the title but team India was knocked by New Zealand in the 1st semi-final of the ICC World Cup 2019.
Wasim Jaffer has recommended for Rohit Sharma to lead India in white-ball cricket
Former Indian cricketer, Wasim Jaffer had tweeted, “Is it time to hand over white ball captaincy to Rohit Sharma?” He further added, “I would like him to lead India in the 2023 World Cup.”

BCCI may split the Indian team captaincy.
Speaking to IANS, a board functionary said that following the footsteps of England, India should begin their preparation for next campaign and hence, the management can select Rohit as captain in the limited-overs format while Kohli continues with his captaincy in the longest format of the sport.
“This would be the right time for Rohit to take over the mantle of the captaincy in the 50-over format. There has been immense support to the present captain and the management and it is time to plan ahead for the next World Cup and for that the existing ideas and plans need a fresh look. We all know some areas need a relook. Rohit would be the right man for the job,” the functionary said.
